Brush your dentures inside and outside daily, using a soft, large nylon denture tooth brush with round-ended bristles.
Use denture creams instead of toothpaste. Toothpaste is too abrasive and will scratch your denture. Remember to always rinse immediately after with cold water.
Keep dentures out of placed in hot water, where they are susceptible to warping. Instead, place them in cold water and denture cleaning solution to prevent them from drying out.
Inspect your dentures weekly for signs of worn teeth.
Inform your dentist and doctor about medications that you may be taking. These may have an impact on your denture health.
Have loose dentures checked immediately. If left unattended, they can cause friction and pressure on the gum tissues and bones.
Schedule a semi-annual examinations with your prosthodontist and remember that most dental insurance policies provide coverage for new dentures every 5 years.
