Cosmetic periodontal surgery is an effective way to cover exposed or sensitive tooth roots, reduce gum recession, and restore balance to your smile. If you’re unhappy with short-looking teeth or an uneven gum line, a combination of periodontal procedures at Langley Dental Group can make a real difference.

Sometimes teeth look short even though they’re a normal length, because excess gum tissue covers part of the tooth. We can correct this with a procedure called crown lengthening, where excess gum and bone tissue are gently reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. It can be done on one tooth or several, to even out your gum line and create a more balanced smile.
Another option is a soft tissue graft, used to cover exposed tooth roots, reduce gum recession, and protect the roots from decay. After tooth loss, the jawbone naturally recedes, which can leave an indentation in the gums and a generally aged appearance. A bone graft placed after tooth loss helps preserve the socket and ridge, reducing gum and bone collapse. The result is less shrinkage and a more natural-looking result for an implant crown or a fixed bridge.
