What Is a CBCT (3D) Scan?

What Is a CBCT (3D) Scan?

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a 3D imaging system that captures detailed images of your teeth, bone, nerves, and soft tissue in a single quick scan. Unlike a flat 2D X-ray, it lets us see depth and precise positioning, which is especially valuable for planning dental implants, assessing bone volume, evaluating wisdom teeth, and diagnosing problems that aren’t visible otherwise.

When Do We Use 3D Imaging?

  • Planning the exact position and angle of a dental implant
  • Assessing bone height and width before bone grafting or a sinus lift
  • Evaluating impacted or problematic wisdom teeth
  • Locating nerves and sinuses before surgery
  • Diagnosing complex or hard-to-see issues
